INCORR Graphite Anodes are suitable for onshore pipelines and structures. Oil impregnated graphite anodes would be used for offshore application.

Graphite anode is available either in plain or impregnated with linseed oil.

* Weight and dimensions are nominal. All anodes fitted with standard 6m x 16mm² XLPE/PVC copper cable. Other cable types and sizes are available on request.

Most of the graphite anodes used today are impregnated with linseed oil to reduce porosity. This will reduce the chances of spalling or early anode failure due to sub-surface gas evolution or carbon dioxide.

In environment (eg. seawater) where Cl2 gas is the main reaction product at the anode, graphite anode may be used. However, in area where O2 gas is the main reaction product such as in fresh water, the oxygen gas produced will react with graphite anode.

                        C + O2 => CO2

When graphite is used in soil, the wear rate will increase if the soil is acidic or sulphate ion is present.

Graphite is not recommended for high temperature application exceeding 50oC. At such high temperature, graphite anode wear rate will be increased drastically.

The consumption rate of graphite anode in soil range between 0.5 to 1 kg/Amp-yr for bare anode and between 0.3 to 0.5 kg/Amp-yr with coke bedding.
